Fine Arts and Movement

Beyond the core subjects, Walden’s Fine Arts and Movement programs nurture creativity, imagination, and wellness.

These experiences help students connect the mind, body, and heart through expression, collaboration, and play.

  • Young boy playing the violin in a classroom, with two women in the background playing guitar and singing.

    Strings

Our Strings program invites students to experience the joy of music through the violin, viola, and cello. As they learn rhythm, tone, and technique, students develop focus, patience, and teamwork. Whether rehearsing in small groups or performing for our community, music becomes both an art and a shared language of expression.

    Photography

Through Photography, students learn to see the world through an artist’s lens. They explore composition, light, and storytelling while developing technical skills in digital photography. Photography encourages observation, creativity, and reflection, helping students find beauty and meaning in everyday moments and express their unique perspectives.

  • Group of children and an adult gathered around a raised garden bed with plants and flowers outdoors, a white fence in the background.

    Gardening

In the school garden, students learn by doing, planting seeds, nurturing growth, and harvesting the results of their care. Gardening connects science, sustainability, and wellness in meaningful ways. Students discover how ecosystems work, where food comes from, and how responsibility and collaboration help things and people thrive.

  • Two young girls performing handstands outdoors on a grassy surface, with a group of children watching in the background.

    Dance

Dance at Walden celebrates movement as a joyful form of self-expression. Students explore rhythm, coordination, and storytelling through movement, building confidence and body awareness. Classes encourage creativity and connection, helping each child discover their own rhythm while learning to collaborate, move, and express ideas with confidence.

  • A group of young children outdoors receiving a soccer ball from a female coach or instructor.

    Soccer Shots

Our partnership with Soccer Shots introduces students to the fundamentals of soccer through play, teamwork, and skill-building games. The program focuses on character development, coordination, and sportsmanship in a fun, inclusive, and energetic environment. Each session helps students grow in confidence, cooperation, and a love of movement.
